First Day on the J-O-B
My first day at my new job has come to an end. All went well. I spent about 2 hours in the shop and 1 1/2 hours at the doctors office waiting to pee in a cup. I am really excited about this new job. I have two major things which I need to work on for this job. 1) I need to be more assertive, 2) I need to speak up. Unfortunately my laid back personality is more of a detriment for me. It will change over time.

You are right about it changing over time. As you get more comfortable with your job, the people you work with and feel more confident about the knowledge you have you'll start speaking up. Being a good listener isn't bad - neither is knowing when to speak up.
